Beware of Rude BiRite Truck Driver!

Today, while walking in the light rain during my lunch break on Schellville Road, a BiRite Foodservice Distributors truck passed me and the wind from his truck broke one of the prongs on my recently purchased umbrella.

Since the driver was making a delivering nearby, I thought if I saw the driver, I would tell him.

So as I walked by, I said to the driver, "You know, the wind from your truck broke my umbrella". He looked at me and said nothing.

I thought, maybe he didn't hear me or he didn't speak English, so I said, "Did you hear me? I said the wind from your truck broke my umbrella."

He walked up to me and said, "I find that hard to believe."

So I showed him where the metal piece had snapped. He looked, said nothing and walked away!

Shocked by his total lack of concern and complete rudeness, I asked, "No apology?"

He kept walking and continued to ignore me, saying nothing!

Yes, my umbrella may be a little thing but if this fellow had shown me some respect, I would have dropped the whole thing. Since photography is my hobby, I usually have my camera with me and I began to snap a few photos (see below). BiRite Foodservice Distributors will be receiving a link to this blog post today.

There... I feel better now. Everyone should have a blog.

My broken umbrella which I bought recently

  1. Sorry but isn't this a risk that you take when you are out walking in the rain? It could have been any wind that broke your umbrella. Maybe you should invest in a higher quality umprella, or better yet don't walk in the rain with your newly purchased umbrella.

  2. Yes, I agree - my broken umbrella is a moot point in the big picture.

And I would not have pursued the issue if the truck driver had simply showed a tiny bit of respect.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I think perhaps instead of worrying about your cheap umbrella you bought perhaps you should simply count your blessings that you didn't get soaked by the large truck that drove by you while you were out for your stroll; I guess I always try to think of how it could have been worse. With regards to the lack of considerations of the "rude truck driver" perhaps he was having a bad day! I am not sure what you would have liked; I doubt that a simple sorry would have been enough for you and I doubt he was going to give you moeny to purchase another one. I hope you have had better days.

  4. Thanks for the great reminder - counting our blessings is very important!

  5. Cathy. What wild bug crawled up your ass and made you decide to take the time out of your day to bother this man? Judging from your magnificent photo's of the crime scene that umbrella probably cost downwards of $5.99 over at the nearby Longs Drugs. An apology definitely was not warranted in this situation. The man could obviously not help the hurricanes his truck was causing while he drove it. I don't think "rude" was the right word for the man. It sounds like you all but accosted him while he was attempting to take care of his daily duties. From the description on your incredibly hip and well laid out blog, it seems as though it is you, and not he, that was rude. Send me a link to your paypal. I'll forward the $5.99 to shut you up.

  6. I hope the man driving the truck didnt loose his job because of what you did, he has a family to feed and really tight schedules for delivering that freight.
