Psalm 37

Psalm 37

1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13The LORD shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

18The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

21The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

22For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

23The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

24Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

25I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

27Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

30The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

31The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

32The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

38But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Holy convenience, Batman!
DWP Shuts Off Major Power Lines Due to 'Sayre' Fire 15 Nov 2008
The Sayre fire, which began around 10:30 last night in Sylmar has caused several transformers in the hills above the San Fernando Valley to explode, and as a result, the DWP has taken action to ensure the public's safety and to help the firefighters battle the blaze. According to a press release from early this morning: The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power began taking major power transmission lines near the Sayre Fire out of service at 5 AM today as the fire moved west toward the I-5 Corridor in Sylmar. Transmission lines were taken out of service due to the threat posed by the fire in order to assist firefighters and protect the public's safety. The I-5 corridor through Sylmar serves as a major utility corridor for the LADWP and other utilities, bringing imported power to Los Angeles from power plants in the Pacific Northwest and Southwestern US. As the fire moved toward the high-voltage transmission lines, the LADWP turned off these lines to ensure the safety of firefighters and the public. Because of the significant role these power lines play in supplying Los Angeles with energy, should they remain offline for a long period of time, the DWP may initiate rolling power outages in part of the City to handle the demand.

Fire prompts rolling blackouts in L.A. 15 Nov 2008
L.A. officials launched rolling blackouts across the city for about an hour this morning after deactivating some transmission lines in the Sylmar fire zone out of fear that winds could blow them down and cause more blazes. Several blackouts were reported in the San Fernando Valley, with entire neighborhoods losing power and traffic jammed because traffic signals were off... The Department of Water and Power said transmission lines along the Interstate 5 corridor north of Sylmar were taken out of service this morning. These lines are considered a major source of imported power to Los Angeles from power plants outside California.

Wildfire threatens Los Angeles power supply -mayor 15 Nov 2008
A fast-moving wildfire in suburban Los Angeles is a threat to the city's power supply, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said on Saturday. The fire, concentrated in the Los Angeles foothill suburb of Sylmar, could hit transmission lines that bring electrical power to Los Angeles. "The fire is threatening the power of the city of Los Angeles," Villaraigosa said. "We may have to move to rolling blackouts."

KBR today announced it has been awarded a disaster relief contract, valued at up to $75 million over a five-year period by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Pittsburgh District, for its advance contract initiative for emergency power for the Western region of the United States. The disaster relief contract was created by the USACE to respond immediately to power emergencies resulting from a natural or manmade disaster. KBR will provide all labor, transportation, equipment, materials, supervision and required internal logistics support to perform generator set activities in the Western Region, Geographic Area 3. KBR services will mobilize immediately upon activation by USACE to the "disaster" area. The company will work to quickly provide emergency power to the critical public facilities designated by the State and FEMA as directed by the USACE.

KBR wins Army Corps contract to provide power during emergencies 11 Nov 2008
KBR Inc. has been awarded a $75 million disaster relief contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for emergency power. The Houston-based engineering company will be supplying the power to the Western region of the United States. el nino,

You raise a good question (Jul 11, 2007 9:17 AM PDT) about lack of news reporting of the WTC 7 collapse at the time of 911 and after. That alone tells you the media have been infiltrated by intelligence operatives (Operation Mockingbird).

Further:

1. Let's think like black ops planners for a moment.

2. Next, let's recall Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963.

Ready?

When we set up a black op in broad daylight we always think of "defense in depth" and "the indirect approach". First, there is the event itself with its patsy (lone gunman first, 17 hijackers second). This cover story will be accepted by people lacking critical thinking skills, which our psyops experts confirm will be 1/3 of the population at all times. Remember, commonplace minds can only conceive of commonplace occurrences.

Second, we "take out" the next 1/3 of the population - the suspicious types - with a murky "second gunman" cover story (grassy knoll first, thermate cutter charges second). We give this cover story a patina that "information is leaking out the government doesn't want you to know". This cover story keeps this second 1/3 of the population very busy. We know too this second 1/3 will argue among themselves and generate silly ideas - many are X-Files types and other "fringe" types - so they can be easily refuted by government officials and "average joes". Simultaneously, this second 1/3 wastes its time and energy trying to "convert" the inconvertible first third of the population into accepting their story. Endless debate ensues. Alas for this second 1/3, they are attempting the impossible and their version of events - government complicity - while correct, nevertheless lacks "the ring of truth". Furthermore they are involved in a three-front war: within their own ranks, against the first third of the population, and against the government.

The simple math so far, el nino, is we have neutralized 2/3 of the population with a simple thesis-antithesis (patsy-grassy knoll, patsies-thermate) device. All that remains is one third of the population, the potentially problematic final third, the critical thinkers.

Our psyops experts tell us most of these people will keep their mouths shut for several reasons: avoidance of mockery, fear of ostracization and harassment, despair, disgust at the inability of fellow citizens to think critically, so on. A few however will speak out and do so cogently. But they will be cautious, largely silent, and not having penetrated our defense in depth there is little they can do.

At this point we've already won the public relations battle because, ironically, the more people talk the more clouded events become. (Isn't crowd control easy?) What seemed implausible before the event falls like ripe fruit into the hand of the daring (us).

Naturally, we need media control. We have had Operation Mockingbird (military intelligence and CIA infiltration of the media) already in place for decades, so we can be assured to have our angle presented 24/7 in all the media as "truth" and "reason" and "common sense". Government officials make it clear to the citizenry that not only does the government know best, but moreover to question the official story is unpatriotic, blasphemous, and treasonous. We leave it to the government to appoint their paid-off officials to craft the official account in an underfunded committee report. Of course witnesses need to die. In the first case, we're tasked with this. In the second, the event itself kills witnesses two-fold: those dying in the event, and those dying subsequent to the event (we make sure the head of the EPA assures everyone that the asbestos-laden air is quite safe to breathe - which she does). That alone being insufficient, the government elements who directed us will proceed to destroy habeas corpus and other civil liberties and let the citizenry see horrific televised images of incarcerated innocents without civil liberties being brutalized in custody.

Remember, el nino, ours is a defense in depth employing the indirect approach. ("By way of deception thou shalt do war.") We have the official patsy (lone gunman-lone cave dweller with 17 helpers). We have the murky alternative hypothesis (grassy knoll-thermate). We also have neutralized the entire population's civic discourse on our broad daylight black ops event through media control and intimidation. These are our first three lines of defense. What remains behind these three lines of defense is the REAL event.

In 1963, the real event is the actual unseen sharpshooter beneath the manhole cover just 15 feet away from his target with a direct unobstructed line of fire, his lethal shot masked by the target itself and the many other shots fired. In 2001, the real event is an unseen space satellite using a directed energy weapon (DEW) that turns steel to dust. The 1963 example is primitive but effective because unseen. Those were simpler times. But DEW technology is now known only by highly-paid specialists in the defense industries and generals in the Pentagon. (In a few years more will know but as usual it will be far far too late. Our hirers, and we, will have moved on to our next event.)

The elegance - again - is clear. DEW technology being "stealth" and unknown to most Americans, anyone who attempts to expose our black op will be mocked. By whom? By the people themselves. Our work, again, is largely done before we began.

Granted, there are enough anecdotal stories from Iraq to confirm we are using these weapons, as we used them in Grenada and other military excursions.

Granted, there is film footage of the steel vaporizing even after the three buildings (1, 2, and 7) tumbled.

Granted, Grumman has online videos showing the current use and viability of scaled-down versions of this technology.

Granted, DEW crowd control microwave technology can also be located online.

But only the final third of the population can interpret this information correctly. Most of them will never even hear of it. And as we already know, most will keep silent. Those who don't? Their theory will be unable to convert the majority because people are social, group, herd animals. Our psyops experts, basing their conclusions on the research of BF Skinner and other behavioral psychologists, have long known the direct relationship between the quantity of information and the number of people who will accept it. Control the media you control discourse you control the people. Continuous reinforcement.

As we know, el nino, the basic premise that it is possible for large numbers of people to come to coherent conclusions rationally, and then act on them, is untrue. The masses are moved only through emotion: the more primitive the emotion the better. It has always been so. It always will be. Particularly in modern mass society. Our government itself as you know - the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights - was created by a small group of elite individuals behind closed doors.

Our goal is never to make our cover story appear true. That would surpass even our Art. There is always a price to pay and loss of confidence in representative government is that price. Our goal is to lead our opponents into a labyrinth of endless pointless rhetoric. The government's role, similarly, is to ensure the citizenry is deluged with mass entertainment; kept poor and compliant with jobs sent overseas and lack of affordable health care; kept sick with adulterated food; kept depressed and medicated by the millions (them and their children) with antidepressants (and Ritalin in dumbed-down government schools); kept intimidated with threats of an enemy lurking everywhere; kept patriotic to fight endless war; kept distracted with endless (preferably heated) social debates about same-sex marriage, minority rights, immigration, race relations, abortion, global warming, conspiracy theories, so on; and ignorant of the debt = slavery equation central to our unconstitutional central bank's control of interest rates and fiat money supply.

Meantime, it is business as usual for us.

And as for one world government - I don't really know. I've got kids and a wife to provide for. And anyway we're just doing our job, right, el nino?

The Internet has proven problematic, however. Perhaps that's our next event?

The Story of WTC7 by Dr. Judy Wood

HOPE
"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." - The Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 6

In Matthew 5, the Lord Jesus Christ says, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."

All war is evil and should be avoided at all costs.

We know from research that most all wars are contrived by those in power to manipulate the people for financial gain at the cost of countless innocent lives. This is wrong and wicked. The current war in Iraq and Afganistan is wrong and wicked.

I have a friend who just got a job helping returning soldiers deal with their post traumatic stress syndrom and sleeping disorders. My heart breaks for the pain our young military people have had to suffer because they are deceived into thinking killing someone else will help the 'problem'. And what is the problem? A fabricated pack of lies fed us by the controlled news media propaganda machine.

The Black Widow Spider

"The female black widow spider, distinguished by the red hourglass marking on the underside of her abdomen, is probably the best known and most feared of all North American spiders. In spite of the female black widow's small size of 1.2 cm (0.5 in.), its venom is quite toxic and may cause a wide range of symptoms in humans, including pain, swelling, nausea, and sometimes death. The male of this species is harmless to humans and lacks the hourglass marking on the abdomen. The black widow is so named because the female may eat the male following mating."

In the article When the Devil Dares: Teenagers and Satanism, it says one danger sign is the preoccupation with the colors red and black (such as clothing) - hmmm..

What does the Bible say about spiders?

JOB 8
"So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish: Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web. He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure."

PROVERBS 30
"There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks; The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces."

ISAIAH 59
"Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands."

What does it all mean?

Time will tell.

John F. Kennedy 'President and the Press' Speech April 4, 1961 - 19 min

Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New York NY Speaking before the American Newspaper Publisher's Association.

Full Transcript:
Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen: I appreciate very much your generous invitation to be here tonight. You bear heavy responsibilities these days and an article I read some time ago reminded me of how particularly heavily the burdens of present day events bear upon your profession. You may remember that in 1851 the New York Herald Tribune under the sponsorship and publishing of Horace Greeley, employed as its London correspondent an obscure journalist by the name of Karl Marx. We are told that foreign correspondent Marx, stone broke, and with a family ill and undernourished, constantly appealed to Greeley and managing editor Charles Dana for an increase in his munificent salary of $5 per installment, a salary which he and Engels ungratefully labeled as the "lousiest petty bourgeois cheating." But when all his financial appeals were refused, Marx looked around for other means of livelihood and fame, eventually terminating his relationship with the Tribune and devoting his talents full time to the cause that would bequeath the world the seeds of Leninism, Stalinism, revolution and the cold war. If only this capitalistic New York newspaper had treated him more kindly; if only Marx had remained a foreign correspondent, history might have been different. And I hope all publishers will bear this lesson in mind the next time they receive a poverty-stricken appeal for a small increase in the expense account from an obscure newspaper man. I have selected as the title of my remarks tonight "The President and the Press." Some may suggest that this would be more naturally worded "The President Versus the Press." But those are not my sentiments tonight. It is true, however, that when a well-known diplomat from another country demanded recently that our State Department repudiate certain newspaper attacks on his colleague it was unnecessary for us to reply that this Administration was not responsible for the press, for the press had already made it clear that it was not responsible for this Administration. Nevertheless, my purpose here tonight is not to deliver the usual assault on the so-called one party press. On the contrary, in recent months I have rarely heard any complaints about political bias in the press except from a few Republicans. Nor is it my purpose tonight to discuss or defend the televising of Presidential press conferences. I think it is highly beneficial to have some 20,000,000 Americans regularly sit in on these conferences to observe, if I may say so, the incisive, the intelligent and the courteous qualities displayed by your Washington correspondents. Nor, finally, are these remarks intended to examine the proper degree of privacy which the press should allow to any President and his family. If in the last few months your White House reporters and photographers have been attending church services with regularity, that has surely done them no harm. On the other hand, I realize that your staff and wire service photographers may be complaining that they do not enjoy the same green privileges at the local golf courses that they once did. It is true that my predecessor did not object as I do to pictures of one's golfing skill in action. But neither on the other hand did he ever bean a Secret Service man. My topic tonight is a more sober one of concern to publishers as well as editors. I want to talk about our common responsibilities in the face of a common danger. The events of recent weeks may have helped to illuminate that challenge for some; but the dimensions of its threat have loomed large on the horizon for many years. Whatever our hopes may be for the future--for reducing this threat or living with it--there is no escaping either the gravity or the totality of its challenge to our survival and to our security--a challenge that confronts us in unaccustomed ways in every sphere of human activity. This deadly challenge imposes upon our society two requirements of direct concern both to the press and to the President--two requirements that may seem almost contradictory in tone, but which must be reconciled and fulfilled if we are to meet this national peril. I refer, first, to the need for a far greater public information; and, second, to the need for far greater official secrecy. I The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know. But I do ask every publisher, every editor, and every newsman in the nation to reexamine his own standards, and to recognize the nature of our country's peril. In time of war, the government and the press have customarily joined in an effort based largely on self-discipline, to prevent unauthorized disclosures to the enemy. In time of "clear and present danger," the courts have held that even the privileged rights of the First Amendment must yield to the public's need for national security. Today no war has been declared--and however fierce the struggle may be, it may never be declared in the traditional fashion. Our way of life is under attack. Those who make themselves our enemy are advancing around the globe. The survival of our friends is in danger. And yet no war has been declared, no borders have been crossed by marching troops, no missiles have been fired. If the press is awaiting a declaration of war before it imposes the self-discipline of combat conditions, then I can only say that no war ever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of "clear and present danger," then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent. It requires a change in outlook, a change in tactics, a change in missions--by the government, by the people, by every businessman or labor leader, and by every newspaper. For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match. Nevertheless, every democracy recognizes the necessary restraints of national security--and the question remains whether those restraints need to be more strictly observed if we are to oppose this kind of attack as well as outright invasion. For the facts of the matter are that this nation's foes have openly boasted of acquiring through our newspapers information they would otherwise hire agents to acquire through theft, bribery or espionage; that details of this nation's covert preparations to counter the enemy's covert operations have been available to every newspaper reader, friend and foe alike; that the size, the strength, the location and the nature of our forces and weapons, and our plans and strategy for their use, have all been pinpointed in the press and other news media to a degree sufficient to satisfy any foreign power; and that, in at least in one case, the publication of details concerning a secret mechanism whereby satellites were followed required its alteration at the expense of considerable time and money. The newspapers which printed these stories were loyal, patriotic, responsible and well-meaning. Had we been engaged in open warfare, they undoubtedly would not have published such items. But in the absence of open warfare, they recognized only the tests of journalism and not the tests of national security. And my question tonight is whether additional tests should not now be adopted. The question is for you alone to answer. No public official should answer it for you. No governmental plan should impose its restraints against your will. But I would be failing in my duty to the nation, in considering all of the responsibilities that we now bear and all of the means at hand to meet those responsibilities, if I did not commend this problem to your attention, and urge its thoughtful consideration. On many earlier occasions, I have said--and your newspapers have constantly said--that these are times that appeal to every citizen's sense of sacrifice and self-discipline. They call out to every citizen to weigh his rights and comforts against his obligations to the common good. I cannot now believe that those citizens who serve in the newspaper business consider themselves exempt from that appeal. I have no intention of establishing a new Office of War Information to govern the flow of news. I am not suggesting any new forms of censorship or any new types of security classifications. I have no easy answer to the dilemma that I have posed, and would not seek to impose it if I had one. But I am asking the members of the newspaper profession and the industry in this country to reexamine their own responsibilities, to consider the degree and the nature of the present danger, and to heed the duty of self-restraint which that danger imposes upon us all. Every newspaper now asks itself, with respect to every story: "Is it news?" All I suggest is that you add the question: "Is it in the interest of the national security?" And I hope that every group in America--unions and businessmen and public officials at every level-- will ask the same question of their endeavors, and subject their actions to the same exacting tests. And should the press of America consider and recommend the voluntary assumption of specific new steps or machinery, I can assure you that we will cooperate whole-heartedly with those recommendations. Perhaps there will be no recommendations. Perhaps there is no answer to the dilemma faced by a free and open society in a cold and secret war. In times of peace, any discussion of this subject, and any action that results, are both painful and without precedent. But this is a time of peace and peril which knows no precedent in history. II It is the unprecedented nature of this challenge that also gives rise to your second obligation--an obligation which I share. And that is our obligation to inform and alert the American people--to make certain that they possess all the facts that they need, and understand them as well--the perils, the prospects, the purposes of our program and the choices that we face. No President should fear public scrutiny of his program. For from that scrutiny comes understanding; and from that understanding comes support or opposition. And both are necessary. I am not asking your newspapers to support the Administration, but I am asking your help in the tremendous task of informing and alerting the American people. For I have complete confidence in the response and dedication of our citizens whenever they are fully informed. I not only could not stifle controversy among your readers--I welcome it. This Administration intends to be candid about its errors; for as a wise man once said: "An error does not become a mistake until you refuse to correct it." We intend to accept full responsibility for our errors; and we expect you to point them out when we miss them. Without debate, without criticism, no Administration and no country can succeed--and no republic can survive. That is why the Athenian lawmaker Solon decreed it a crime for any citizen to shrink from controversy. And that is why our press was protected by the First Amendment-- the only business in America specifically protected by the Constitution- -not primarily to amuse and entertain, not to emphasize the trivial and the sentimental, not to simply "give the public what it wants"--but to inform, to arouse, to reflect, to state our dangers and our opportunities, to indicate our crises and our choices, to lead, mold, educate and sometimes even anger public opinion. This means greater coverage and analysis of international news--for it is no longer far away and foreign but close at hand and local. It means greater attention to improved understanding of the news as well as improved transmission. And it means, finally, that government at all levels, must meet its obligation to provide you with the fullest possible information outside the narrowest limits of national security--and we intend to do it. III It was early in the Seventeenth Century that Francis Bacon remarked on three recent inventions already transforming the world: the compass, gunpowder and the printing press. Now the links between the nations first forged by the compass have made us all citizens of the world, the hopes and threats of one becoming the hopes and threats of us all. In that one world's efforts to live together, the evolution of gunpowder to its ultimate limit has warned mankind of the terrible consequences of failure. And so it is to the printing press--to the recorder of man's deeds, the keeper of his conscience, the courier of his news--that we look for strength and assistance, confident that with your help man will be what he was born to be: free and independent.

Voting Problems Roundup: Election Morning
Problems Are Popping Up In Several Key States
November 4, 2008
source

(CBS) CBS News Investigative Producer Wendy Krantz and Kim Lengle wrote this story for CBSNews.com.

Just a few hours into Election Day, problems are popping up in several key states with long lines and broken machines all against the backdrop of what is expected to be the largest turnout in history. As of right now, one national voter protection group says it has received 27,000 reports of problems.

- In Virginia, problems at polling places have been reported from over ten locations all across the state, including Richmond, Portsmouth, Lynchburg, Chesapeake, Vienna, Newport News and Virginia Beach, according to voter protection groups. The most common complaints are about long lines. However, problems with voter registration and polling machines not functioning properly in several locations has also been reported. Some voters are reporting there have been no offers of paper ballots. And even as of 7am, Some polling places were not open.

- The Washington Post reports that some precincts have discovered an unusual weather-related problem. Rain in some areas of the state have been causing problems with the optical scanners because of wet ballots.

- In Pennsylvania, Bethlehem, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh have reported a number of problems with voting machine malfunctions in, as well as major breakdowns at three precincts in Allegheny County.
CBS Newshas confirmed with state officials that there have been machine malfunctions throughout the state.

- There have been reports of a few precincts in Philadelphia running out of paper ballots. People have been given provisional ballots in these cases. (If 50 percent or fewer of the voting machines are working, polling officials must provide paper ballots to voters, according to a recent ruling by a judge.) State guidelines also dictate that these provisional ballots must be marked “emergency,” so they will be counted with the rest of the ballots today.

- The McCain/Palin campaign has sent out an email stating that Republican election board workers in at least six precincts in Philadelphia have been tossed by the Democrat judge of elections. The reason provided was that they are the “minority party.” They are seeking an injunction in court today for the improper removal of “credentialed” poll workers.

- In Ohio, voting rights groups have received reports out of Columbus that many people are experiencing problems with malfunctioning voter machines, resulting in long lines. In a few of these locations, they say, the machines are not working at all.

From 1 Timothy 2
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Over the years my opinions have changed but this will never change: Jesus Christ, Lord, God and Savior, died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay for my sin.
